Skilltage vs Workable: CV evidence beside your ATS
Choose Workable when you need one system to post jobs and run your pipeline. Choose Skilltage when you want requirement-by-requirement CV evidence and a focused follow-up question, with every decision left to the recruiter. Many teams use both.
Workable is a full applicant tracking system with an AI agent that scores applicants. Skilltage does one part of hiring in more depth: it reads each CV against the agreed requirements and shows the evidence, so recruiters can decide.
Skilltage and Workable side by side
- What it is
- AI-assisted CV evaluation and candidate review. It works beside an existing ATS or an email-and-files process.
- A full applicant tracking system with job posting, careers pages, pipelines, HR tools and the Workable Agent.
- How AI reads applications
- Connects each candidate's experience to the requirements agreed for the role and shows the evidence, gaps and open questions beside the original CV.
- The Workable Agent evaluates each candidate against an ideal candidate profile and gives a score out of 100. Candidates are ranked by that score by default.
- Who moves candidates
- The recruiter selects every review state and sends every message. AI does not shortlist, reject or move candidates.
- Recruiters decide by default. Optional settings let the agent disqualify candidates who miss required criteria and advance candidates above a score threshold.
- When something is unclear
- The recruiter can ask one focused follow-up question, by email draft or as a short video answer through Skilltage Unscripted.
- Video interviews, assessments and texting are paid add-ons on Standard and included on Premier.
- Job posting, careers site and talent pool
- Not included. Skilltage works with the channels and ATS you already use, and recruiters can upload PDF CVs from any source.
- Included on every plan: distribution to 200+ job boards, a careers page builder and a candidate database.
- Pricing model
- Start with free evaluations, then pay as you go or choose a monthly plan. Every subscription includes one technical integration agreed with the Skilltage team.
- Plans from $299 a month for the smallest company size, priced by headcount. Sourcing and screening agents use AI credits on top.
Which one fits your hiring?
Skilltage fits when
- You already have an ATS, or a simple email-and-files process, and the first read of CVs takes real time.
- CVs have started to sound alike and you want evidence for each requirement, not a single score.
- You want AI to prepare the material while people make every progression and communication decision.
- You hire for a few roles at a time and want to start with free evaluations.
Workable fits when
- You need one system to post jobs, build a careers page and run your whole pipeline.
- You want an AI agent that also sources passive candidates and chats with applicants.
- You want HR tools such as onboarding and time off in the same product.
Using Skilltage with Workable
Many teams keep their ATS and add Skilltage for the evaluation step. Every Starter, Regular Hiring and High Volume subscription includes one technical integration with your current recruitment process; you agree the systems, scope and approach with the Skilltage team. Recruiters can also upload PDF CVs from any channel.
Evidence instead of a fit score
A score out of 100 tells you how strongly a model rates a candidate against a profile. It does not show which requirement the candidate meets, where the CV says nothing, or what you should ask next. Skilltage shows that reasoning requirement by requirement, next to the original CV, so the recruiter can check it before deciding.
Missing evidence is not negative evidence
When a CV does not mention something, Skilltage marks it as unclear instead of counting it against the candidate. The recruiter can then ask one focused question, by email or as a short video answer, rather than filtering the candidate out on a gap that may only be a gap in the writing.
What Skilltage does not do
Skilltage is not an applicant tracking system. It does not post jobs, host a careers site, keep a talent pool across jobs, or provide scorecards and hiring reports. If you need those, an ATS such as Workable covers them, and Skilltage can sit beside it for the evaluation step.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Skilltage an alternative to Workable?
- Not for applicant tracking. Skilltage does not post jobs, host a careers site or keep a talent pool. It is an alternative to relying on a fit score for the first read of CVs, and it works beside Workable or another ATS.
- Can Skilltage work with Workable?
- Every subscription includes one technical integration with your current recruitment process. The systems, scope and delivery are agreed with the Skilltage team. Pay-as-you-go does not include an integration, but recruiters can always upload PDF CVs.
- Does Skilltage give candidates a score?
- Skilltage does not produce a hiring score or decide who moves forward. It shows which requirements the CV supports, where it is silent and what is unclear. Any ordering in the list is a navigation aid for the recruiter, not a decision.
- What happens when a CV leaves out something important?
- Skilltage marks the requirement as unclear rather than failed. The recruiter can ask one focused follow-up question, including a short video answer, before deciding.
